Privacy & data protection

This explains what we collect when you contact us, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it. It is written against the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

Who we are

NairoBuild is the data controller for the information described here. Write to us at hello@nairobuild.co.ke about anything on this page.

What we collect, and why

We only collect what you send us. We do not buy lists, and we do not track you around the internet.

When you request a quote

  • Your name, phone number and the area your site is in. We need these to prepare a quotation and to reach you about it.
  • Your email address, if you give one. It is optional.
  • What you are building, your rough budget band and your timeline. We ask for a band rather than a figure on purpose.
  • Anything you write in the brief, or the list of materials and quantities you need.
  • Which page you came from, so we know which parts of the site are useful.

The lawful basis is that you asked us to do something — taking steps at your request before entering a contract. We do not need your consent to answer your enquiry, and we do not ask for it.

When you ask us to email you about NairoBuild

That is a separate, optional tick box, and it is never ticked for you. The lawful basis there is your consent, and we record when you gave it. You can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email or writing to us, and withdrawing it does not affect your quotation.

What we deliberately do not ask for

We do not ask for your ID number, your date of birth, or your exact home address. If you send us drawings or site photographs, we treat them as confidential and we do not publish them without asking you first.

Who else sees it

  • Resend delivers the notification email that carries your enquiry to our mailbox.
  • Our website host processes the request that submits the form.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own purposes.

Where it goes

Our email provider and our website host operate outside Kenya, so your information is transferred out of the country. Under section 48 of the Act we tell you this plainly. We use them because they are established providers with their own security obligations, and we send them the minimum needed to deliver your enquiry to us.

How long we keep it

Twenty-four months from your last contact with us, then we delete it. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will.

Your rights

Under the Act you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop using it, or object to a particular use.

Email hello@nairobuild.co.ke and we will respond within seven days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The form is validated and rate-limited on our server, and the keys that send our email are never present in your browser. If something goes wrong and your information is affected, we will report it to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner within 72 hours and tell you directly where there is a real risk to you.

Cookies and measurement

We do not set cookies for advertising and we do not use third-party trackers. If that changes, this page changes first and we will ask you before setting anything that is not strictly necessary.

We do count visits, so we can tell which pages are useful. That counting is cookieless and aggregate: it records the page, the country, and whether something like a quote request or a catalogue download happened. It does not record your name, your phone number, your IP address or anything else that identifies you, it does not follow you to other websites, and there is no profile of you to ask us for. Where a quote request is counted, only the category of work and the timescale are counted with it — never the details you typed into the form.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page. Ready to talk? Request a quote or contact us.
